Missions Programs

We believe that as a part of our service to God, that we are
called to serve each other – especially those who have not
received plentifully of God’s bounty.  To that end, Caring for
Humanity leads us in our service of caring for those in our
community who are in need, or in crisis.  We believe that
by providing for the physical and emotional needs of these
neighbors, we can help break the cycle of poverty, build their
self-esteem, and empower their eventual self-sufficiency. 

Local Presbyterian Missions Programs
from Mt. Washington

• Volunteers visit the Cincinnati Drop-Inn Center every
  month to serve meals and enjoy fellowship with residents.

• We provide material and financial support to the Batavia
  Emergency Food Program that serves the underprivileged
  in the Batavia and Clermont county areas

• We support the Outreach Ministry in the East End, which
  ministers to community residents to help them gain new
  skills for employment and personal development.

• We house and support Southeast Ecumenical Ministries
  (SEM) Food Pantry with a facility, foodstuffs, and financial
  support that is distributed to members of our immediate
  community who lack the resources to provide food or
  heat for their families.

• Members of MWPC plant and tend a garden on our property,
  and donate all of the produce to the SEM Food Pantry so
  they can provide fresh vegetables to their clients.

• Helping schoolchildren succeed by providing basic
  supplies is one of the best investments we have made. 

• By providing the means for spiritual renewal for 200 in
  Hamilton County, Mt. Washington volunteers have helped
  inmates work with their current reality, and nurtured their
  transitions to productive members of society. 

• Members of our Mariner’s Group matched families
  with no resources for winter clothes, or Christmas,
  with Mt. Washington families who filled these needs
  on a family-to-family basis. 

Nationally

Katrina

In conjunction with the Presbyterian Diasater Relief (PDA)
and the Presbytery of Cincinnati

Since November 2005 in conjunction Presbyterian Diasater
Relief (PDA) and the Presbytery of Cincinnati we have sent
220 people to the Gulf Coast to assist with rebuilding homes
and peoples lifes after the Katrina/Rita hurricane disaster.

Trips are schedule for a week in both October and March
generally with 50 volunteer slots available.

Buckhorn School

Violent teens housed at Buckhorn School can be shown
alternatives, develop coping skills, establish boundaries,
and successfully manage life’s challenges.  The option is for
them to remain amoral, predatory criminals, wards of the state –
or both.  Buckhorn needs help to maintain its program, one of
the most effective in the Midwest for at-risk adolescents.

Globally

K’anhabal Presbytery in Guatemala had no potable water. 
The primary means of support in this region is women earning
meager wages through hand-sewing. 

We Made History – by changing it!   We’d love to put some
of your ideas and skills to work.  Get involved, locally,
or globally.   The needs are incredible, but so is the good
you can do . . . right away!
